Not All Traitors Throw Bombs, Some Just Bravely Suggest Someone Else Should

The human race has collectively stopped holding its breath now that a rage-tweeting, reality TV star no longer has the legal authority to release nuclear weapons, and his band of merry racists are starting to realize that maybe one or two things they have been led to believe may have been false. As the immediate threat of being violently overthrown has passed, the U.S. Government can turn its focus to the numerous unfolding global crises that imperil us all. The pressure to move on, look forward, and not dwell on the insanity of the past four years will only increase as the Daily Mein Kampf via Twitter fades from recent memory. This advice should be ignored. History is positively drenched with examples of governments facing crises from insurrections to civil wars, environmental collapse to genocide. Many times the crises were resolved, but only after a spectacular, bloody conclusion. Other times, governments failed entirely to rise to the challenge and fell. Approximately zero percent of the time has a government suffered a violent, nearly-successful, coup/Civil War II Starter Kit, and then moved on and said, “Hey, no worries mate. Let’s all just put this behind us.”

When someone tries something outrageous, novel, and bizarre, weather breakfast at Taco Bell or making an argument that the Vice President can count whatever Electoral College votes he or she feels like counting, and is rewarded, (or at least not punished) others will try something similar.
